Apparently AeroExpo was awesome! We are waiting a report from our person that went up there but it really was worth the trip and quite an experience. More people may go next year (with a bit more advance planning). In the meantime things are busy here - a couple of students tried landing on tarmac away from Land's End for the first time (and did very well) and the weather has been fantastic with nearly all our new students progressing into the circuit. We thought today may have been a washout but actually was quite okay late morning. Will July be like last year we wonder?

Another fantastic weather day - lots of flying going on and a number of students making really great progress. The diary is filling up so if you would like a slot do ring up in good time so we can fit things in. Some of the regular students who come in at set times are happy to swap slots but need a little notice to organise their time.
Pictured is Shannon, one of our students on a lesson in G-EOLX recently. We had no idea the picture is actually on facebook - posted up by her friend who was a passenger in the back during her lesson. The best caption for the picture:
"Ahh, the dreaded checklist!" seemed to be the winner. Perhaps we should post some caption competitions?

AeroExpo, Wycombe Air Park 25-27 June 2010
There is a big aircraft exhibition being held this year at Wycombe Air Park, called AeroExpo.
The organisers are advertising it with the strapline "Love Flying, You Will Love AeroExpo".
There will be all kinds of aircraft on show - seminars on all kinds of aviation subjects and over 100 exhibitors - sounds very interesting!
As a flying school we have decided that we will be going to the exhibition this year - what we are not sure is how many people wish to go and how we should organise it. We could fly in, (they encourage this so it is free) but the earliest slot time is 1pm each day and unless we stay over we won't get very much time at the show. Whether we do this (we could take up 3 aircraft) or whether we go up in a land vehicle depends on how many people from here wish to go.
Please contact us with your thoughts and preferences quickly - if need be we can organise accommodation based on numbers rather than trailing up there and back in one long day!

Lots going on at the moment! I have just amended the calendar up to date for the rest of this week and next so do refer to it for an idea of what is going on. It is not cast in stone because of the weather and because people can be held up at work so if there is a time you would like to come in do give us a call and we will see what we can do.
If you would like to find up to the minute weather at Land's End Airport, there is a new link which gives the read out at the tower.

This is updated by Air Traffic Control and so it the best picture you will get of what is actually happening at the airport. Remember the times given by it should be GMT (Greenwich Mean Time). To be more politically correct, we should refer to this as UTC, (or Universal Time Co-ordinated) as is preferred by those in charge, though whether is called GMT or UTC it refers to the same time - an hour behind our current British Summer Time.

G-EOLX is off having the 150 check done this morning - no major problems we are told but chance to iron out any little niggles and make sure everything is fine for the coming month. We have had a very good month all told with lots of flying going on and lots booked in for a busy June. There is always the chance to fit in some extra fun though and so we are considering a school visit to Aeroexpo UK at Wycombe Air Park, June 25-27. We have discount entry vouchers and are wondering if it would be an interesting fly away for students/PPL holders whatever their level of training. It is just an idea at this stage and your thoughts would be most welcome.
